President of the Republic of Moldova Igor Dodon held an informal meeting with representatives of the civil society of Transnistria

The meeting took place in the context of the development of the idea of creating a public Platform for reconciliation and the consent of the residents of both banks of the river Nistru, which was supported by the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow, during a meeting on March 17, 2017 in Moscow.

The event was attended by representatives of public and business circles, local authorities of Transnistria. The participants of the meeting discussed the current situation of affairs around Transnistria, as well as political, economic and social issues.

Residents of Transnistria supported the proposal to promote constructive initiatives in order to solve social, humanitarian and economic issues of concern to ordinary citizens and entrepreneurs of Transnistria. In particular, these include issues of citizenship and civil status, preferential acquisition of medical insurance policies, etc.

"I want to emphasize the importance of this conversation, since it was held on the eve of the forthcoming meeting with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, where will be raised questions regarding Transnistria," said Igor Dodon.

The President thanked the participants of the meeting, noting that the dialogue in this format should continue, as it is mutually beneficial and contributes to the strengthening of trust and mutual understanding between the two banks of the river Nistru.
