Address by H.E. Maia Sandu, President of the Republic of Moldova: Moldovans Come Together Ready to Rebuild Their Country

Thank you for the invitation to address you here today at Palais de l’Europe. I am grateful for the opportunity to meet you in person and I also warmly greet the audience and the Parliamentary Assembly’s delegates who have joined online. I stand here today to acknowledge the role of the Council of Europe in establishing and upholding the values and standards that define European nations today, in promoting democratic consolidation, stability, and providing a place for dialogue on the continent.

Decizia de azi a Curții Constituționale este una firească, de constatare a întrunirii circumstanțelor de dizolvare a Parlamentului. Au fost întrunite ambele condiții. Parlamentul nu a votat un guvern timp de 3 luni, iar cele două tentative de învestire a unui guvern au eșuat. Astăzi am făcut un pas important pentru a da moldovenilor ocazia să-și aleagă un Parlament care să-i reprezinte cu adevărat și un Guvern care să lucreze eficient pentru sănătatea și bunăstarea cetățenilor.

Pornind de la importanța obiectului examinării și din respect față de Curtea Constituțională, am decis să vin personal astăzi să-mi susțin punctul de vedere. Obiectul sesizării este unul foarte important nu doar pentru justiția constituțională din țara noastră, dar și pentru statul Republica Moldova și cetățenii săi.

Address by President Maia Sandu at the opening of the Annual Meeting of the General Assembly of NALAS

I am honoured to open the Annual Meeting of the General Assembly of NALAS, especially as Moldova takes over, for the first time, the presidency of NALAS. I am confident that the presidency held by CALM - the Congress of Local Authorities from Moldova - will bring value to the whole network of regional and local authorities from South-East Europe, and will also contribute to strengthening Moldovan communities and local governments.
