The President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu met today with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who is visiting our country. They discussed the consequences of the war in Ukraine for the Republic of Moldova and the efforts of its authorities to carry on the country's development projects, despite the difficult security situation in the region. The Head of State emphasised that the Republic of Moldova continues to rely on cooperation with the United Nations in order to respond more effectively to the numerous challenges our country is facing.

President Maia Sandu also thanked the UN Secretary General for the support that our country has received over the years through UN agencies and for UN support in managing the current humanitarian crisis, including the direct financial aid to Ukrainian refugees and to the families hosting them. During the meeting, President Sandu received assurances that this aid will soon be delivered to all those who need it. UN Secretary-General António Guterres also expressed his appreciation to all our citizens for their solidarity with the refugees from Ukraine.
