The Head of State met today in Chisinau with the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou

Moldovan President Maia Sandu welcomed Katerina Sakellaropoulou, President of the Hellenic Republic, on the first official visit to Chisinau by a Greek President after a break of almost 20 years.

In the context of the tragedy that took place on Tuesday evening in northern Greece, President Maia Sandu sent her condolences: "Unfortunately, last night in Greece there was a tragic train accident in which several people lost their lives. I have sent my condolences to the relatives of the victims and all the Greek people," the head of state said.

At the same time, President Maia Sandu thanked President Sakellaropoulou for Greek support in our European course: "We discussed our bilateral relations, economic and cultural cooperation, and agreed that we will also increase cooperation in the energy field", said the head of state.

President Maia Sandu appreciated the hospitality with which the almost 20 thousand Moldovan citizens working in Greece were received and mentioned the Moldovan-Hellenic Social Protection Agreement, entered into force at the beginning of January, which will allow our citizens to receive pension for the accumulated experience in both countries.
