President Sandu, in discussions with Minister Nosatîi: “As a neutral state, we must be able to protect peace and security at home”

President Maia Sandu had a discussion today with the Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatîi, during which she emphasized the importance of the authorities' efforts to maintain peace at home and increase the resilience of state institutions in the context of the war in the neighboring country.

“The Republic of Moldova is a neutral state, this is written in the Constitution, and all our actions in the field of defense respect the principle of neutrality. Because we are a neutral state, we must be able to protect peace and security at home. Entrepreneurs, investors, but above all, all our citizens must feel safe in Moldova. Therefore, we have the obligation to build a modern, properly equipped national army that citizens can be proud of,” stated the head of state.

The President appreciated the efforts of the National Army to enhance its defense capabilities and its contribution to regional peace and security, highlighting that our soldiers demonstrate professionalism and a high level of preparedness, being valued in the peacekeeping operations they participate in. She also mentioned that the military are our ambassadors in the world, demonstrating our country's commitment to peace at the regional and global levels.

“The Republic of Moldova is a peaceful country that threatens no one. We want to have partners who respect our sovereignty and territorial integrity and help us become a strong state. Our country's objective - joining the European Union - starts precisely from the guarantee of peace, where countries have lived in harmony for over 70 years,” the head of state pointed out.
