Moldovan, Belarusian presidents attend inauguration of shopping centre in Chisinau

President Nicolae Timofti and his Belarusian counterpart Alexandr Lukashenko participated in the inauguration of a shopping centre, Keramin, in Chisinau, today.

Nicolae Timofti welcomed the successes recorded by the Moldovan-Belarusian joint company, specialised in producing and selling ceramic plates. „The high quality and modern design of the Belarusian ceramics have won the trust and recognition of many Moldovan buyers. I want to thank the Belarusian side for the investments made in Moldova and for creating new jobs,” Timofti said.

Nicolae Timofti spoke out for boosting the bilateral economic ties and underlined the willingness of the Moldovan producers to supply Moldovan quality products to the Belarusian market.

Alexandr Lukashenko said the example of the Moldovan-Belarusian joint venture showed the ascendant potential of the bilateral cooperation and specified that, after the talks held in Chisinau, the sides agreed to increase the mutual trade exchanges from 400 million dollars to 1 billion dollars.

The two officials also met representatives of the Belarusian community from Moldova, who informed them about the creation of the Yanka Kupala Belarusian Cultural Centre in Chisinau.

Late in the afternoon, Nicolae Timofti saw Alexandr Lukashenko to the Chisinau International Airport, where they held face-to-face talks. At 14.00, the plane of Alexandr Lukashenko took off to Minsk.
