Moldovan president, belarusian PM address ties, cooperation, trade

President Nicolae Timofti pays a one-day visit to Turkey, in order to take part in the ceremony of swearing in office of the elected Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

In Ankara, Timofti met Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich.

The two officials discussed the political, economic and cultural ties between the two states, as well as the regional situation.

Timofti said that Moldova was grateful to the Belarusian authorities for their position to maintain and boost up the bilateral trade exchanges, in situation when Moldova was forced to significantly reduce its exports to Russia.

In the context, Mikhail Myasnikovich said that Belarus would not change the current trade cooperation regime with Moldova and it was no need for such a change in this respect. Besides, the official added that the potential of the Moldovan-Belarusian cooperation allowed fostering the trade ties and proposed to set up new joint enterprises, which would function for the benefit of both sides.

The two officials also approached Belarusian President Alexandr Lukashenko’s scheduled visit to Moldova, by late September. The sides agreed that this visit would lead to development and deepening of the Moldovan-Belarusian ties.
