Moldovan president receives accreditation letters from U.S. Ambassador

President Nicolae Timofti received the accreditation letters from U.S. Ambassador to Moldova James D. Pettit at the state residence today.

Timofti voiced satisfaction with the fostering and deepening of the Moldovan-American ties in 2014, following the visits and bilateral high-level meetings, as well as with the launch of the Moldova-USA Strategic Dialogue, which he deems as a priority of Moldova’s foreign policy.

Nicolae Timofti thanked for the constant and consistent support provided by the U.S Government to the Moldovan authorities, in order to strengthen the democratic institutions and modernise infrastructure.

Nicolae Timofti informed Pettit about the parliamentary elections. The head of state voiced confidence that the parliament would vote soon the swearing in office of the new government, that would continue Moldova’s European integration.

James D. Pettit said the USA reaffirmed its firm commitment to promote democratic values in Moldova and backed the Moldovan authorities’ efforts to join EU.

The officials also addressed the common projects on the bilateral agenda, as well as the degrading of regional security following the developments in Ukraine.
