President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu had a phone call today with former German Chancellor Angela Merkel. They discussed the European path of our country, as well as the opinion of the European Commission, which recommends EU Member States to grant the Republic of Moldova the candidate status for EU membership at the European Council on 23-24 June. In this context, they talked about the reform process in our country, including in the areas mentioned in the Commission's opinion, which are essential for advancing the Euro-integration process.
At the end of the discussion, President Maia Sandu thanked for the support offered to the Republic of Moldova over the years by Germany, including during Angela Merkel's mandate as Chancellor.
