President Nicolae Timofti condemned the terrorist actions and expressed solidarity with the international community mobilised to fight terrorism. "The values of democracy cannot be negotiated," said Nicolae Timofti.
„I was deeply marked by the terrorist attack on the office of weekly newspaper Charlie Hebdo. On behalf of the Moldovan people and on my own behalf, I want to convey sincere condolence to you and entire French people. We are with the families of those who have died in this tragic incident and we hope that those who are guilty will be sentenced in the name of law”.
„At the turn of the year, I convey you a good thought of health and good humour. I wish you welfare and happiness to your families. God protects us. Happy New Year!”
At the same time, under presidential decree, Svetlana Leu was dismissed from the post of judge of the Bender Court of Appeal, in line with her application of resignation.
„I draw your attention to the need to modernise the Constitution or even adopt a new Fundamental Law”.
„On this occasion, I address all my best thoughts and wishes for health and love. We firmly believe that the coming year will be more fruitful and happier for all of us".
The decision was taken by Timofti after consulting the representatives of the parliamentary parties, namely Socialist Zinaida Greceanii, Liberal Democrat Vlad Filat, Communist Artur Resetnicov, Democrat Marian Lupu and Liberal Mihai Ghimpu, convened by Nicolae Timofti in an ad-hoc meeting at the state residence today.
