President Igor Dodon, along with the prime minister and parliament speaker laid flowers at the monument ”Maica Îndurerată” (Grieving Mother) at the Eternitate (Eternity) memorial venue.
In continuation, just as he has been used to do for six years in a row, Igor Dodon went to Vadul lui Voda, east of Chisinau, where he, along with presidential advisers, MPs and more Party of Socialists (PSRM) members laid floral wreaths at the Vadul lui Voda bridge, thus paying homage to the servicemen who died in the tragic events from 1992.
Along with a group of veterans, the head of state participated in a commemorative meeting in the Cosnita village, where he laid flowers at the monument to the soldiers who died in that conflict, as well as at the monument to the heroes fallen in the World War II.
The Moldovan president said that time was ripe to undertake firm actions to settle the Transnistrian conflict. Dodon said that all the best must be done in the next 2-3 years to reunify Moldova, stressing that he would do his utmost to this end.
“This is an important step the citizens from both banks of Dniester want. The fact that this day is marked separately in Tiraspol and Chisinau is a tragedy,” the president said.
It is worth mentioning that, on 1 March, the Moldovan president unveiled an initiative of creating a platform of social dialogue, within which mutually acceptable solutions for both banks of Dniester should be identified to settle the Transnistrian conflict.
