President of the Republic of Moldova Igor Dodon held a number of meetings with representatives of the Federal Chancellor, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, deputies of the German Bundestag, and the leadership of other departments.
The parties discussed in detail the situation in the Republic of Moldova, as well as all areas of Moldovan-German relations.
An important topic in the discussions was the Transnistrian question. The President expressed his gratitude for the constant political support of Germany in the process of the Transnistrian settlement, and welcomed the efforts of the German side to resume negotiations in the "5 + 2" format and to find an effective political decision on this issue.
Also during these meetings, the parties discussed possible scenarios in the process of local and parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova, scheduled for this year.
The President of the Republic of Moldova urged the German representatives, together with representatives of the European Union, to closely monitor these elections, which are of exceptional importance for the Republic of Moldova.
During today and tomorrow, the Head of State will hold meetings with representatives of the administration of the German President, as well as the civil society of the country.
The President of the Republic of Moldova pointed out that our country should maintain good relations with both the East and the West for the benefit of our people and country.
