The Head of State expressed his hope that the friendly relations between the two countries and the Western partners’ gestures of solidarity would facilitate the common course of European integration of the Republic of Moldova & Georgia.
The Head of State noted that the Moldovan authorities were perfectly aware that they must fulfil the commitments taken before the European partners.
President Toomas Hendrik Ilves said that the progress made by the Moldovan authorities within the Eastern Partnership programme had given clear prospects for the Republic of Moldova’s accession to the European Union.
The head of state will have a tête-à-tête meeting with the president of Estonia Tomas Hendrik Ilves, on Wednesday, 4 October. After the meeting both heads of state will take part in official talks with participation of Moldovan and Estonian delegations.
The EU Commissioner said that the reformation of justice and fighting corruption represented the main test for the Chisinau authorities in aligning to the European Union’s standards.
The head of state welcomed the presence of European officials in the Republic of Moldova, noting that this visit fits into a string of support actions on behalf of the European Union for Moldova’s European aspirations.
