President Nicolae Timofti today signed, at a proposal of the Superior Council of Magistracy, decrees on the appointment of three judges. Two judges were appointed for a five-year period: Sofia Arama – judge at the Cimislia-based Court;
Olga Bejenari – judge at the Riscani district court in Chisinau. At the same time, Petru Vacula was appointed as head of the Leova-based Court for a four-year term.
President Nicolae Timofti expressed confidence that next year's takeover of the EU Council Presidency by Latvia, as well as the holding of the Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga in May 2015 would help boost Moldova’ European integration.
Nicola Harrington-Buhay said that, under the Partnership Framework between the United Nations and Moldova for the period 2013-2017, the sides would take actions to strengthen institutional capacities for sustainable development.
The president opted for deepening the political and economic cooperation at European level between Moldova and Ukraine, in the context of the two states' association with EU.
Under presidential decrees, Maria Negru and Stelian Teleuca were appointed as judge at the Chisinau-based Court of Appeal, and Ghenadie Liulca and Aurelia Toderas - as judge at the Court of Appeal from Balti.
„I also want to underline that those two remarkable achievements of Moldova in 2014 – visa regime liberalisation and getting the statute of associated country to the European Union – would not be possible without the valuable and firm engagement of Romania”.
The sides agreed that the rigorous implementation of the provisions of the Moldova-European Union Association Agreement in the months to come would bring Moldova significant political, social and economic benefits.
