Romanian president conveys congratulatory message to Moldovan counterpart on Independence Day

Romanian President Traian Basescu has conveyed a congratulatory message to President Nicolae Timofti on Moldova’s Independence Day.

The message reads as follows:

„Dear Mr. President,.

On Moldova’s Independence Day, I have the pleasure to address you my warmest congratulations, together with congratulations of happiness, success, prosperity and achievements for you and all Moldovans. It is a day with special historical significances and I share, together with you and the Moldovan citizens, the emotion and joy of this anniversary.

I want to reconfirm, on this occasion, that Moldova, its European aspirations and prosperity of its citizens by whom a long history ties us and, especially, a deep friendship, will always be my soul project. I am happy that this year anniversary is marked in an extremely important period for Moldova’s future and I welcome once again the Moldovan authorities’ efforts, who managed to reach over the past months important goals in the process of getting closer to Europe, thus, answering to a collective desideratum.

I assure you that Romania will always be by your side in everything you are set, in order to ensure a worthy, free and prosperous future to all Moldovans.
