Moldovan president receives regional organisation's secretary general

President Nicolae Timofti received Secretary General of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organisation (BSEC) Victor Tvircun at the state residence today.

Timofti said that Moldova showed interest in the cooperation process in the Black Sea region. Nicolae Timofti welcomed the implementation of the Black Sea Ring Highway Project, which would contribute to connecting to the pan-European and Eurasian transport networks, allow developing the infrastructure and facilitate goods and passenger transport.

Victor Tvircun informed about Moldova taking over of the BSEC chairmanship for the first quarter of 2015, as well as about the carrying out of a session of BSEC Parliamentary Assembly in Chisinau in next June.

Tvircun said that, for this period, Moldova had proposed an agenda focused on facilitating trade, developing transport infrastructure, cooperation in the tourism and culture areas, as well as continuing BSEC reform process.

A former Moldovan ambassador to Turkey and ex-education and youth minister Victor Tvircun was elected secretary general of the above-mentioned organisation in July 2012.
