President Maia Sandu, on the Day of Ukraine: "We are eternally grateful for the strength with which Ukraine protects peace"

On August 24, Ukraine marks Independence Day, and on this occasion, the head of state came with a congratulatory message: "Today Ukraine celebrates its Independence Day with dignity. Independence is when citizens can decide their own future, when they have the freedom to build their own country as they see it. Ukrainians, through their boundless courage and determination, remind us of this truth every day," said President Maia Sandu.

The head of state mentioned that the Republic of Moldova looks with deep respect towards Ukraine, not only as a neighbour, but as a symbol of resistance and hope. "We are eternally grateful for the strength with which Ukraine protects peace and security in the region, thus becoming a bastion of freedom for millions of Europeans. On this day, my hope is that peace will soon return to the homes of Ukrainians and that Ukraine's Independence Day will never again be overshadowed by war and suffering. Slava Ukraini!" concluded the President.

President Maia Sandu and the presidential institution sincerely thank the "Vivace" children's choir of the "Alexei Stârcea" School of Arts and the conductor Anton Dumbrava for the performance of the song Chervona Kalyna.
