Due to efforts of President of the Republic of Moldova, another family from Syria repatriated

The repatriation of a family of citizens of the Republic of Moldova from Syria, carried out at the personal indication of the President of the Republic of Moldova, has been completed.

Today, at the Chisinau International Airport, the President Igor Dodon together with Mrs. Esra Şen, Chargée d’Affaires ad-interim of the Turkish Embassy in Chisinau, welcomed Mrs. Natalia and her four children, who had been detained in the "Al Hawl" camp at the beginning of 2019, due to the military confrontations in Syria.

The head of state specified that the successful repatriation operation was possible due to the joint actions of the Intelligence and Security Service of the Republic of Moldova and the Intelligence Service of Turkey, whose activity had been directly guided by the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Mrs. Natalia, originally from the Republic of Moldova, lived and worked in Chisinau with her Syrian husband until 2013, when they decided to move permanently to the province of Aleppo (Syria). Following the military actions in Syria, at the end of 2017, Natalia’s husband was killed, and she, together with her four children, arrived in January 2019 in the "Al Hawl" camp, where living conditions were extremely difficult.

Igor Dodon mentioned that this was already the second case when the special services of the Republic of Moldova in collaboration with colleagues from Turkey managed to carry out such a rescue operation, the first one being carried out in December 2019, when another family from Syria when repatriated from Syria to Republic of Moldova.

The President sincerely thanked Mr Erdoğan for his coordinated efforts and support in carrying out these repatriation operations of our country’s citizens.
