State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Moldova

The State coat of arms shall consist of a shield divided horizontally into two parts: the upper part being of a red chromatics and the lower part - blue chromatics with a superimposed auroch’s head showing between its horns an eight-pointed star. On its right the auroch’s head is flanked by a five-petalled rose, and on its left by a slightly rotated crescent. All heraldic elements present on the shield are of golden (yellow) colour. The shield is laid on the breast of a natural eagle holding in its beak a golden cross, in its right claw a green olive-tree branch and in its left claw a golden sceptre.

In white and black representation the shield and the heraldic images comprised in the composition are represented according to the conventional signs used by the heraldic science. Respectively: the gold (yellow) – points placed at equal distance between them, the red – vertical lines, blue – horizontal lines, and the green – oblique lines from the right to left. The State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Moldova shall be placed:

  • on the buildings of the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, the Government of the Republic of Moldova, on the buildings of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Republic of Moldova, law courts of the republic, on the buildings of local public authorities, as well as on the buildings of diplomatic representations and consular institutions of the Republic of Moldova;
  • in the office of the President of the Republic of Moldova, the Chairman of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, in the offices of managers of local public authorities, in the halls where take place: meetings chaired by the President of the Republic of Moldova, sessions of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, sessions of the Permanent Bureau of the Parliament, the Government, local authorities meetings; in halls where court hearings of the Supreme Court of Justice and law courts are held, as well as in places where marriages and new-born children are registered in a solemn environment;
  • in the space for seal matrixes and on the forms of documents for the President of the Republic of Moldova, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Permanent Bureau of the Parliament, the Government, ministries, departments of the Republic of Moldova, other central public administration, in the seals and forms of documents of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Republic of Moldova and law courts; in sealing patterns and forms of local public administration, notary offices as well as enterprises, state institutions which under the law of the Republic of Moldova are granted the right to have seals and document forms with the state coat of arms;
  • on the official documents of the President of the Republic of Moldova, Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and Government of the Republic of Moldova;
  • on the republican lottery tickets in money and objects.

The Moldovan legislation may establish other cases of compulsory reproduction of the image of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Moldova.

Reproduced image of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Moldova, regardless of its size, must correspond exactly to the proportions of the coloured or black-and-white images.

The right to use the State Coat of Arms by institutions and organizations not stipulated above shall be granted only by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova.

The way the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Moldova is manufactured, its mass duplication, use, storage and disposal of the sealing patterns with the image of the State Coat of Arms shall be determined by the Government of the Republic of Moldova.
